Let me introduce myself

Hello stranger!

Welcome to my blog in which we are going to talk about different ideas related to the interesting world of education... My name is Irene Padilla and I would like to propose different activities that have a communicative approach in which the four skills are worked on.

I would like to highlight the importance of working the oral skills (listening and speaking), which precede the written skills (reading and writing). As Jon Byrne stated, the learner's ability to understand needs to be more extensive than the ability to speak.Consequently, they have to listen to the language and by encouraging them to listen we will help them to learn to read and write later on.

Therefore, I will explain different motivating and communicative activities which are familiar to children and varied, so that the students work on the main goal of our subject, which is improve the learners competence in linguistic communication.
These activities have two main objectives:

The learners are motivated to learn through the activities. As Jeremy Harmer said 'Motivation is some kind of internal drive that encourages somebody to pursue an action.' If we perceive a goal and if that goal is attractive enough, we will be strongly motivated to do whatever necessary to reach that goal.

Students learn English using new technological resources and innovative methodologies. Theories such as the Multiple Intelligences by Gardner stated that we learn better when the process of learning implies the multiple senses, audio-visuals and new technologies which make the learning of English more efficient.
All in all, I am going to start with the different activities I would like to propose. Are you ready to join me in this adventure? Let's go!
